A great coffee maker is indeed very hard to find. When I got my first one I thought I'll just buy a coffee maker, what's the big deal, but when it broke down a year after it was tragedy. I eventually bought another one after a few months of looking, but this one I didn't see in shops. I'll make an investment and definitely get one.
_________________________
Kenmore Parts

This really does look awesome I really want one, I used to have a coffee maker some years ago but when It broke down I never got around to getting another one. I have so many appliance parts in my kitchen already but I will just have to make some room!

There are many factors to this issue. One is the way and how it is used, and second it depends where did you buy the machine.

I'm with JCLARK...it will stop working. I too am on my second DCC-2000. I got my first machine in 2005, worked great until 2007 (so I got 2 years out of my first one). No power, won't turn on. I called Cuisinart and for $10 they would ship me a new one and then I had to return the broken one and pay the shipping. I did. Now in February 2010 my second coffee maker stopped working again. The same problem. I called and they told me to use vinegar and water and let set for 1 hour and leave unplugged for 2 hours. That worked for a couple weeks, then every time I wanted to use my coffee maker I had to unplug it for a few seconds, this lasted a couple weeks. Now it won't work at all. I called Cuisinart again and was told they could do nothing because it's out of warranty. I have been searching other site and blogs and this seems to be a wide spread problem, but Cuisinart isn't doing anything about it. I loved the coffee maker when it worked, but would not recommend that anyone buy it. Cuisinart doesn't seem to care that they are having so many problems with this model.

I'll second this sentiment. The coffee maker is very nice, when it works. It will stop working without warning. Let it sit for a couple of hours, and maybe it will work again. Or maybe not. I bought a French Press as a backup solution because the unit is soooo unreliable. Oh and did I mention the leaking? Yes, it leaks water all the time. Check out underneath and you will see.

I have my fingers crossed for you, but I came across your blog because I have also had two of these - once you have them, you love them - and they've both just died. It's a little disconcerting because at the beginning of the end, you could sometimes unplug/plug the pot back in and it would work again, and that kind of electrical problem is scary. But even scarier? I'm probably going to buy a third, and take my chances again. Oh, my last one lasted two years, so I'm knocking on wood with another purchase.

Sooner or later Cuisinart will surely fix this flaw, and sooner or later I'll buy a fixed machine. (Brilliant marketing in the meantime. Build a coffee pot the consumer can't live w/out, and make sure it fails w/in two years and guarantees another purchase.)
