VTech KidiZoom Camera Review from a photography loving mom

Reviews

My 3 year old daughter will not put her V-tech KidiZoom Kids Camera down!

V-tech Kid Zoom CameraSo - my youngest turned 3 last November and we bought her the Vtech Kidizoom camera and I kid-you-not she asks to play with it just about every waking moment.

I have a digital SLR and love to take photos, so naturally she has been witness and victim to my many "photo shoots". I think this spawned her budding love of photography. Initially I purchased the camera thinking that she may or may not like it. Being that it's a real digital camera, it is quite a bit more expensive than a "play" camera, but none-the-less I decided to chance it. From the moment she tore open the package she has been snapping hundreds of photos of things like electrical sockets, chair legs, her brother and sister at odd angles and the carpet.

I think it's really cute, but others in the house become annoyed when they are being photographed every waking moment.

The camera itself takes photos that aren't even one megapixel (.3 megapixels to be exact) and that means the photos are pretty crappy if you want to look at them on anything other than the preview screen on the back of the camera; much less print them (forget about it). I knew that going into this though and the joy on my daughters face is worth what I paid, but it would be great to actually print some of the photos that she takes. Sometimes she accidentally (or maybe purposefully) takes some photos that are really pretty cool!

VTech KidiZoom Kids Camera Quick Review:

Purchased: Toys R Us for $60 bucks on sale

You can get this camera on Ebay for a good price usually (less than I paid)

VTech KidiZoom Kids Camera Benefits:

  • Fun - even for toddlers
  • Easy to use interface (a 3 yr old can figure it out)
  • Preview screen on the back (some of the others don't have this)
  • Sturdy enough to withstand being dropped
  • Better than other kids cameras on the market at present (I researched pretty thoroughly)
  • Can expand memory with a standard SD card (don't use anything else or it won't work)

VTech KidiZoom Kids Camera Drawbacks:

  • Very low resolution
  • Runs on AA batteries which can run low after just a few days (depending on use)
  • Use of MicroSD or MiniSD causes the camera to crash

The Mrs. gives VTech KidiZoom Kids Camera a 4/5
I could have given this a 5 if it was rated just on how happy my daughter is when she uses this camera, but being the nerd I am, I would have been more happy with it if the resolution allowed me to print the photos.

Farouk Biosilk Silk Therapy Review – This stuff kicks ass!

Reviews

I can't say enough about this kickass hair smoothing serum: Biosilk Silk Therapy Cure by Farouk

Biosilk Silk Therapy CureWell I guess the prior sentence gives away my overall feeling about Biosilk Silk Therapy, but let me just tell you why I think this product is so awesome.

First off, a little history about my hair. I have super thick hair and it's neither straight nor curly, it's wavy at best; in that I can scrunch it with a bunch of product and make it look semi-curly. I dye my hair every 6-8 weeks and as a result there are some areas around my face where the hair has been processed regularly that gets frizzy when it's blow-dried.

While my hair is still wet, I put a dab (about the size of a quarter) of Biosilk in my hands and rub them together and apply it my hair by running my hands along my hair from the scalp to the ends. When I blow-dry my hair with the biosilk in it, it actually makes my hair easier to brush through and the end result is much softer and somewhat shinier hair. I say somewhat shinier because my hair doesn't come out looking like one of those models in a Pantene commercial or anything, but it is noticeably less dull than if I had just blow-dried my hair without Biosilk.

Other benefits to this product include the smell, which is light enough that it's not over-powering, but is actually really nice and lasts all day.

Farouk Biosilk Silk Therapy Quick Review:

Last purchased: Costco $11 / 11.5 oz bottle

Biosilk Silk Therapy Benefits:

  • Lightweight
  • Smells good
  • Doesn't leave a greasy feeling
  • Larger size than other products of similar type/price

Biosilk Silk Therapy Drawbacks:

  • Can be pricey if purchased from a salon
  • Available only in salons or online

4.5 star rating

The Mrs. gives Farouk Biosilk Silk Therapy a 4.5/5

The only reason I didn't give it a 5 is due to the convenience factor; I cannot pick this product up at the local Target or similar store. Whether it's a fashion faux pas or not, I'm partial to buying salon products on ebay. You can also get lucky and buy Biosilk at Costco once in a blue moon and sometimes Amazon.com has a good price on Biosilk if you can't pick it up at Costco. If I could grab this at a store and get instant gratification, I would give it a 5 without a doubt!
