I’ve been using hostgator for a long while now myself and love it. I’m a designer as well and so far I’ve just been referring clients to use hostgator through my affiliate link but it’s getting kind of bothersome because I have to show them how to go through the ordering process (yes, some clients are just not web savvy at all). I figured I’d just make a video of the process!

So I’m toying with being a reseller instead so I can set everything up myself but am concerned about clients not being able to manage/own their web properties once I set everything up (just in case I fall off the face of the earth as I am a solopreneur). Do you have any experience with their reseller program? If so, do you recommend it over the affiliate program for designers?

Hi Everyone,

I know I’m a little late, but I’m the owner of hostgator and I wanted to clarify one of the comments posted. All of our servers have a raid10 setup which means if one drive fails it’s all mirrored to another drive. We also have weekly offsite backups that are store the entire week until they are reran a week later.

I started with hostgator on the month-to-month plan myself and so far have been more than happy with the hosting service they provide. I'll be changing to a 3 year plan once I make my mind up as to whether to go for a single or unlimited domain plan.

Well if it was less than 24 hours ago I believe you can submit a ticket to support and ask them to restore from a backup. They don't keep backups longer than 24hours though so be forewarned. Good luck!

well hostgator just lost my 3 blogs, so i'm truly not impressed….. and just dont know what 2 do
