Stay away from Mozy. The icon kept showing it was happily backing up. Last week something did not seem right. Long story short, after a lot of digging and no luck getting support (email or chat), I discover it has not done a backup for more than 364 days! Plus, I find they plan to auto renew at a higher rate! They're excuse, they have been storing the original data that was backed up, all,the rest is my problem. I think that's crazy since you depend on their software to do,the work. It NEVER provided notice of failed backups.

I am extremely upset with Mozy. I was just informed that they have deleted all of my files because apparently the credit card I had on file expired. They said they emailed me to alert me of this and my account status but I never received a single email from them. I am furious. If you have paid to back up your files with them, you deserve to at least know. Never again.

This is interesting information share over here. I appreciate the information. Mozy could be very useful for online data backup, and get up to speed much faster.

To start off, you said your backing up your companies 1TB of data on the unlimited plan, right there your already breaking their EULA. Second restoring 1TB of data over a network connection; Of course its going to have problems. Request them in smaller batches you cant possibly think restoring 1TB of data over a TCP/IP connection will work with flaw...and in a matter of days mind you. I do agree that the customer service you received is poor and thats pretty sad excuse for a response from them. Wish they would provide phone support for home users, but at 5$ a month they would lose to much money. So just be careful about what you post as they already had a reason to delete your files and not provide any service until you upgrade to MozyPro.

You may get a refund, but dealing with these crooks is a losing proposition, as I found out over the last several months. I wish you all the best but this is a nasty, dishonest company and I hope anyone else who's considering using their "services" will be warned.

Mozy did not work period. So I uninstalled it and deleted my account. I have written repeated e-mails for a refund. I got one response that a technician would deal with my problem- and 2 weeks later nothing has happened. I had to pay the yearly fee plus $16 in late fees and penalties to my bank. Will I ever get a refund?

I have written to Lifehacker- who recommended the program about my problems.

Any ideas?

Kifissia

This product is a disaster! Run, run, run -- heed the warnings above. My hard drive crashed and I am still waiting for my back-up. There is NO ONE to call and the chat support people are vague, disinterested and give stock answers that don't fit the problem. They have to "prepare" your back up for you to download to the new computer, and they only store files from the past 30 days. Nightmare, nightmare. Run as fast as you can and do your research.
